First Ascent - Common Courtesy Icicle Grade IV
Carrock Fell with Trough Gully easily seen on the right of the crag
The initial moves above the ice screw belay
After getting the first screw in a quick run up of the feet establishes you on top of the icicle
Continuing with a cool head is a must but another screw helps....then its just the overhanging heather tussocks above
Common Courtesy Icicle 20 metres IV * 2010 Just before the first major steepening in Trough Gully (aprox. 20 metres)there forms an ice bulge and possible ice screw belay on the left, directly above this an icicle rears up steeply.Climb this on hollow placements and continue, with a cool head, over heather tussocks to a dead tree belay. An abseil from this is the easiest way down. First Ascent - Cliff Lowther 7 January, 2010
