Learn to Climb (One Day Taster)

Programme:

The course programme is flexible to meet the needs of the participants on the day but in general you will be armed with skills that are needed to belay from the bottom of a crag.  We will also look at climbing movement on real rock, common equipment used in traditional UK climbing, leader protection and how to extract it from the rock face, as well as how to abseil safely to retrieve stuck equipment should you need to.

The course would normally start off with you being led up a few routes to show you what our beautiful game is all about and seeing the rope systems commonly used.  Then we would normally set up a couple of 'bottom ropes' so that you can learn to belay safely and start protecting others.  Finally we would set up an easy abseil and show you how to protect yourself to minimise risks.
